Melissa over at Happy Quilting announced her Summer Solstice Quilt-A-Long yesterday and I’m so excited to participate!!
You have until June 22 to decide on a layout and pick out your fabric. The layout part was easy! She has great visuals for the layouts right on her page. Now the fabric, not so easy. I started by going through my stash and putting somethings together but nothing really spoke to me. (and because I needed an excuse to buy more fabric) I decided to just buy something special for this QAL.
I’ve narrowed it down to three fabric choices. (Please note that the design is 100% Melissa’s, I have just added my fabric choices to audition them).
The first contender is Lavish Opulent by Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery.
Don’t you just love that dark background?!
Next up is Mumseed Meadow by Rae Ritchie for Dear Stella.
My favorite thing about this collection is the muted colors and I have always been a fan of grey.
For the third, I put together a myriad of prints from different designers. (This was the favorite of my 10 year old daughter and her best friend)
I have to admit, I’m leaning toward #3 as well.
And last but not least, Little Miss Sunshine y Lela Boutique for Moda Fabrics.
Again, I just love the dark background. It really makes those colors pop.
I would ask my husband but as a rule of thumb, if it’s not blue, black, or green, he won’t like it. Or I get the “yea that’s pretty hunny” comment after every picture 🙂
Please feel free to let me know which one you like the most!
And be sure to follow along with Melissa (and me)! She’s has done so much work for this QAL. The schedule, layout design choices, and fabric requirements for each layout are all on her page. She also has a few fabric choices of her own for you to choose from if you wish to do so. Which, I still might end up doing myself if I can’t settle on one of these!
I can’t wait to see the colors everyone else chose to use!
